Breast Lift Surgery in Phoenix

If you’re unhappy with your breasts due to the lack of volume, firmness, or perkiness, a breast lift may be a great option for you. Low-hanging or “deflated” looking breasts can be an issue you’ve always had, or it may be the result of pregnancy, breastfeeding, aging, or weight loss.

What a breast lift can achieve

As one of the most satisfying cosmetic breast procedures, a breast lift in Phoenix (mastopexy) has the ability to lift, re-shape, and firm the breasts using the patient’s existing tissue to delivering a perkier and more attractive appearance. A breast lift removes excess skin, but does not enhance the size of the breasts (unless it is paired with a breast augmentation). The object of a breast lift is to provide balance to the breasts, improving the overall proportion of the upper body.

Do you need a breast lift?

Women who typically seek a breast lift in Phoenix meet a certain criteria. If your answer to some of the following is “yes”, you may benefit from a breast lift:

  • You feel as though your breasts look deflated
  • Your breasts are asymmetrical in size or shape
  • Your nipples hang very low or point downwards
  • Your breasts have lost firmness
  • Your breast tissue sits near the bottom of your breasts
  • You have noticeable loose skin on your breasts

Breast lift surgical details

A breast lift is performed under general anesthesia and takes 2 to 3 hours, unless it is being combined with another procedure. The type of incision you’ll have will be pre-determined during your consultation with us. The most common types of incisions include:

Anchor incision

This incision starts at the base of the breast in the crease and reaches upward around the areola, creating an anchor shape. The anchor incision is most commonly used for severe drooping.

Lollipop incision

With a lollipop incision, two cuts are made. The first is made from the bottom of the areola to the crease below the breast. The second incision is done around the areola.

Crescent incision

One small incision is made, running halfway across the top of the areola.

Donut incision

The incision is made in a circle around the areola. A piece of skin around the areola is then removed, and the surrounding skin is re-attached to create a lifted look with minimal scarring.

Once the incisions have been made, your surgeon will remove the stretched-out excess breast skin. The breast tissue will then be lifted and re-shaped. Next, the skin is tightened, and the incisions are closed with sutures.

Recovery

The majority of patients take a week off of work, school, and/or social activities following a breast lift. You will be required to wear a surgical bra the week during your recovery to help with swelling, support, and healing.

After you no longer have to wear your surgical bra, you will still need to wear a support bra for several weeks. Absolutely no pressure should be applied to your chest during the months following your surgery. After a breast lift, the breasts will be bruised, swollen, and sore for 1 to 2 weeks. High-intensity physical activity should be avoided for at least six weeks.
